Camping Trip

Now that we are totally stressed in the process of downsizing our home, we decided it was time to destress with a short camping trip. We went for a three day stay at a campground not far from Wilmington near Holden Beach. We were meeting up with our camping club group to kind of start off camping season. This was the puppies first camping trip, and we were not sure how they would do. We have a motorhome which my daughter usually drives, and I follow behind her in my car so we would have a vehicle to drive without having to unhook the motorhome at the campsite. Jack, our black and tan one, gets car sick, and he was very unhappy to start with in the car with me. I had him upfront with lots of air on him to help him get over being sick, and after a while he calm down when he realized that he wasn't going to be sick. Our two other dogs rode with my daughter, and they were just went to sleep. We hoping he will outgrow the car sickness like his older brother did. His other brother use to get sick too, but as bad. Once we got to the campground, they were fine. They loved walking around the campground with all the new smells. Jack is our friendly one, and he wanted to greet everyone and get belly rubs. Jake and Toby are not as friendly, and all three went crazy when they saw other dogs except one female dachshund that Jack kind of like. We are still teaching the puppies to walk on a leash without pulling you all over the place. They are doing better, but it amazing how strong these little dachshunds are to only be six months. Toby is a long haired mini dachshund weighing in only around 13 Lbs, but Jack and Jake will be short haired standards and can go up to 28 Lb. They are pushing probably around 16 lbs now. It was a nice weekend without too many mishaps. Jack and Jake both got out of their harness and we had to go catch Jack. Lucky that he is friendly, because one of our camping group was able to catch him for us. They are growing so fast, that they are in between harnesses where they are not quite bit enough for our larger harness that we had from our past dogs yet. So the ones they are in now are not as tight as they should be. It was nice to get away, but always good to come home especially since a cold front came bringing rain and wind.
We can still make wreaths if you want something special. We probably will not be moving till the fall since where we want to go are still being built. Just let us know and we will try to make it happen.
